The total fee for the subclass 187 Visa is paid by the main applicant in two instalments. The RSMS Visa subclass 187 fees for the main applicant and his or her dependents via the Direct Entry are paid in the first instalment. In the second instalment, the applicant pays for additional family member(s) co-applying with them but have less than Functional English level.
The first instalment is paid at the time of lodging the application and the second instalment is paid as and when asked by the application processing department.
The second instalment needs to be paid by the main applicant for a family member only if:
The invoice for the payment of the fee for the family member(s) is sent by the application processing authorities to the main applicant who fulfils the requirements for the 187 Visa.
However, this is not the exact cost of 187 Visa Australia. The prices may vary depending upon the costs required for health assessments, biometrics and police certificates. The English language test (IELTS or PTE) would also cost a certain amount.

The Australia visa 187 fees via the Temporary Residence Transition for the main applicant and co-applicants are paid in the first instalment. In the second instalment, the applicant pays for additional family member(s) co-applying with them but have less than Functional English level.
The first instalment is paid at the time of lodging the application and the second instalment is paid as and when asked by the application processing department.
Just like in the case of Direct Entry Stream, the invoice for the payment of the fee for the family member(s) is sent by the application processing authorities to the main applicant if it is required and also if the applicant fulfils the requirements for the 187 Visa.
Proof of English Language and its effect on the 187 visa cost:
The main applicant must show that they have Competent English. If the main applicant is exempted from showing that they have Competent English they must show that they have Functional English to be eligible for this visa. If the main applicant can justify this condition they need to pay only AUD 4,115. Otherwise, the main applicant would be required to pay the second instalment of AUD 9,800 as and when asked by the department.
In the Temporary Residence Transition scheme, there can also be other costs involved for biometrics, health checks and police verification certificates.
