What is the present status of Nominated Occupations in Victoria?

The Victorian government invites applicants who can contribute to Victoria's economy and well-being. Right now, skilled workers in the following sectors are being invited to Victoria:

Agri-food sector
Advanced manufacturing sector
Digital sector
Health sector
Life sciences sector
Medical research sector
New energy, emissions reduction and circular economy sector

Visa subclass 190 nomination applicants are currently receiving invitations if they are working in cybersecurity or as digital game engineers. Specializations in Coding, Art Direction, Artificial Intelligence or Physics Programming are in demand. However, if they are into using digital skills in a different target sector, such as software development for the health sector, they might also be nominated by the Victorian government.

All candidates with STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) skills who are working in one of the above sectors may also receive an invitation from the Victorian government. Such people must be working in the ANZSCO Skill Level 1 or 2 occupations.

Visa subclass 491 applicants with STEMM qualifications and working in a Skill Level 3 occupation may also receive nomination by the state of Victoria to live and work there.

Applicants with STEMM skills working in the following business precincts receive priority by the Victorian government:

Parkville: Australia's world-renowned biomedical research hub, Parksville is home to the University of Melbourne, world-class hospitals, other leading universities of Australia, medical research institutes, and biomedical Organizations.
Footscray: Known as the gateway to the West, it is situated in Melbourne CBD (Central Business District). It has a rich cultural heritage as well as strong connections with the city of Melbourne, greater west and regional Victoria.
Docklands: Serving as an extension to Melbourne CBD, Dockslands is home to many international and domestic companies in the following sectors:
Banking and finance sector,
Media, sport and creative sectors,
Professional services sector
Property, construction and transport sectors, and
Retail and hotels sectors.

What do Skill Level 1, 2 and 3 Occupations mean?

ANZSCO (Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations) categorizes all occupations into five skill levels:

Skill Level 1: These occupations require a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification. A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification though. In some cases, you might need both the formal qualification and the relevant experience or on-the-job training.
Skill Level 2: These occupations require a qualification equivalent to:
NZQF Diploma, or
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications. Relevant work experience or on-the-job training may be required on top of the formal qualification in some cases.

Skill Level 3: These occupations require a qualification equivalent to:
NZQF Level 4 qualification
AQF Certificate IV or
AQF Certificate III including at least 2 years of on-the-job training.

Besides these, there are Skill Level 4 and Skill Level 5 occupations too that are not being considered for the nomination by the government of Victoria right now.
