Spouse Visa
Citizenship and Immigration Canada has introduced the Family Sponsorship Visa category under which a permanent resident or citizen of Canada can sponsor their spouse to come and live with them in Canada. The spouse shall be provided with the permanent residence status and can live, study and work in Canada accordingly. The sponsorship and permanent residence applications need to be submitted at the same time for this purpose. The spousal visa application shall first be approved by the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).

To be eligible for sponsoring your spouse, the sponsor must ensure that:
- They must be 18 years of age or above
- They must be permanent resident, citizen or registered citizen under the Indian Act
- They must be able to prove that they will be able to provide the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and healthcare of their spouse
To be able to get sponsored, the spouse must ensure that:
- They are legally married to the sponsor
- 18 years old or above
