Federal Skilled Worker Program Processing Time
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is one of the three economic immigration programs covered under the Express Entry (EE) pathway. People also refer to it as the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC). It is meant for skilled workers with foreign work experience interested in migrating to Canada.
It usually takes six months for the Canadian immigration authority to process an FSWP application. One must remember that the processing time only covers the lapse of time between the moment the visa application is received by the authority and the moment it decides on it (accepting or rejecting the visa application). It means that if you apply online or in-person, your processing time starts right away. If you mail your application, your processing time starts when the application reaches the mailroom of the authority.
The processing time of an application depends on:
- the type of visa application you submit,
- whether your application is complete or not (with all the documents that need to be attached),
- the processing speed of the authority,
- the time it takes to verify your information,
- how quickly you respond to the requests or concerns the authority communicates to you, and
- other miscellaneous factors.
While 80% of the FSWP applications under the EE program get processed within six months, the exact time to process a visa application may vary. You can check the status of your application by following these steps:
- Sign in to your account.
- Click on 'Check status and messages' under 'View my submitted applications or profiles'.
To quicken up the review process of your application, make sure:
- You are eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Class visa.
- Your application is complete.
- the processing speed of the authority,
- You submit all your documents.
- You respond to all the requests on time
