Conjugal Partner Visa
The CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) allows the citizens or permanent residents of Canada to sponsor their Conjugal Partner. A Conjugal Partner Visa is obtained under the Family Sponsorship Visa Category. A conjugal relationship is where both partners are interdependent on each other - financially, socially, emotionally and physically.
A Conjugal Partner is different from spouse and common-law partner. Conjugal partners must be living apart due to some unavoidable circumstances. To be able to get sponsored from your partner in Canada, the applicant must be able to show that they have lived together for at least one year and they must be able to represent that they have made serious commitments towards each other. They must also provide a legitimate objective to stay together.
Once the sponsorship application has been approved, the conjugal partner shall be able to live and work in Canada as a permanent resident. They will be eligible for studying in Canada and can also further apply for citizenship.
Conjugal Partner Visa Processing Time
The time required to assess and verify the documentation for a conjugal partner visa where the other partner is living in India is around 12 months. This includes the time required for biometrics, the time required to assess the sponsor and the applicant and the time required to ensure that the applicant meets the requirements for this visa.
