Visitor Visa Subclass 600 Rules & Conditions
Each of the six visa streams has specific relevant pre-conditions and post-grant conditions. We shall discuss them in brief. However, applicants have to fulfil the requirements as well.
Tourist Stream – Apply from within Australia
Pre-condition
- The applicant should be a genuine visitor and have adequate funds to support his/her stay in Australia and return to the home country.
Post-Grant Conditions
The department might stipulate the following conditions that one should fulfil.
Condition 8101 – The visa holder does not have any right to work in Australia
Condition 8201 – The visa holder can take up specific courses/training for a maximum of three months.
Condition 8501 – The tourist should have adequate health insurance during their stay in Australia.
Condition 8503 – This condition stipulates that the visa holder cannot overstay the visa under any circumstances.
Condition 8531 – Condition 8531 stipulates that the visa holder should leave Australia before the expiry of the tourist visa.
Condition 8558 – The visa holder cannot stay for a period exceeding 12 months in an 18-month period.
Tourist Stream – Apply from outside Australia
This tourist stream visa is similar to the one discussed above except for the condition that the applicant has to reside outside Australia when applying for the visa and also when the department decides its fate.
Sponsored Family Stream
Pre-conditions
- Your relative who is either a permanent resident or citizen of Australia should sponsor your trip.
- The department might call for a security bond from your sponsor.
Post-Grant Conditions
Condition 8101 – The visa holder cannot work in Australia.
Condition 8201 – This visa allows you to study or train for a maximum of up to three months.
Condition 8503 – The visa holder cannot overstay the visa.
Condition 8531 – Under any circumstances, the visa holder must leave Australia before the expiry of the visa.
Business Visitor Stream
Pre-conditions
- You should be a genuine business visitor.
- When applying for this visa, you have to be outside Australia.
Post-Grant Conditions
Condition 8115 – This condition stipulates that the visa holder does not work in Australia other than engaging in business activities.
Condition 8201 – You can study for a maximum for three months on this visa.
Condition 8303 – This condition stipulates that the visa holder should display excellent character by not indulging in unlawful activities.
Condition 8503 – The visa holder will not get a substantive visa in Australia when they remain in the country.
Approved Destination Status Stream
Pre-conditions
- The applicant has to be a citizen of PR of China and intend to tour Australia as part of an organized tour by an authorized travel agency.
Post Grant Conditions
Condition 8101 – You cannot work in Australia
Condition 8207 – The visa holder should not undertake any studies or courses in Australia.
Condition 8503 – The visa holder cannot overstay the visa
Condition 8530 – The organized tour should not have any deviation from the one approved by the Ministry.
Frequent Traveler Stream
Pre-Conditions
- Applicant should hold a passport from PR of China
- Provide biometrics with China before application.
Post Grant Conditions
Condition 8115 – The visa holder should not work in Australia other than engaging in business activities.
Condition 8201 – You can study for a maximum of three months on this visa
Condition 8503 – There should be no overstaying on this visa.
Condition 8527 – Your health exam report should show that you do not suffer from tuberculosis at the time of entry into Australia.
Condition 8531 – You must exit Australia before the expiry of your visa.
Condition 8550 – The visa holder should intimate any change in contact details at least two days before the change.
Condition 8572 – If the Ministry requests it, you should undergo a medical assessment.
Condition 8573 – Your maximum stay in Australia should not be more than twelve months in any 24-month period.
