Provincial Nominee Program Rules & Conditions
Quebec does not have a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). All the other provinces or territories have different criteria for provincial nominees that may change at any time without any notice. You are advised to visit their official websites directly to know more:
- Alberta
- British Columbia
- Manitoba
- New Brunswick
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Northwest Territories
- Nova Scotia
- Ontario
- Prince Edward Island
- Saskatchewan
- Yukon
You not only need to meet all the eligibility requirements of the province you want to migrate to but also the eligibility requirements for Express Entry (EE) if you choose to apply for an EE stream.
What is the best PNP I should try for?
The best PNP for you depends on the stream you are applying for and the expertise you have. It is a much sought-after pathway for Canadian permanent residency as provincial nomination grants you 600 points that can give a huge boost to your CRS score.
Saskatchewan, for example, is looking for skilled workers through Express Entry as well as Occupations in Demand (OID) category. OID applicants need to meet the work experience requirement. It also welcomes students, long haul truck drivers, health workers, hospitality sector professionals, entrepreneurs, and farm owners and operators. Only some skilled workers can apply through the Express Entry program though. You don't need a job offer to enter this province as an entrepreneur or farm owner and operator or a skilled worker coming in through the EE pathway.
Alberta PNP has streams that are aligned with the Express Entry and have earlier invited applicants with CRS scores as low as 300 points. Ontario Immigration Nomination Program (OINP) has also removed its earlier requirement of having a minimum CRS score of 400 to apply for it. The most popular EE-category stream of OINP is the Human Capital Priorities Stream. The other streams in which you can win a provincial nomination from Ontario are the Skilled Trades Stream and the French-speaking Skilled Worker Stream.
Nova Scotia's PMP is new and is quickly becoming popular. Manitoba also invites skilled workers, graduates, and entrepreneurs periodically under dedicated streams.
